nRF24LE1 Key Fob

For those that want to take their wireless control with them, this nRF24LE1-based key fob should do the trick! The board uses an nRF24LE1-24 to read the five available buttons and then transmit the status of the buttons over wireless. The nRF24LE1 goes into sleep mode while a button isn't being held, and only draws 2 uA. When a button is pressed, the device wakes up, transmits the button statuses and the total number of button presses over wireless. A CR2032 coin-cell battery is included, and should last for years.

  • Handheld, and can be attached to a keychain
  • Years of battery life
  • 100+ foot range
  • On-air-compatible with receivers set up to use Sparkfun's Nordic Fob
  • Sends button status for both pressed and released changes, so the receiver can know if a button is being held down

  • Documentation/Software:
  • nRF24LE1 Datasheet
  • Schematic
  • Included firmware
  • Example receiver firmware for nRF24LE1 devices
  • nRF24LE1 SDK for use with SDCC (required for compiling code above)
  • Board does not include a bootloader, but it can be programmed over the hardware SPI flash interface using this code with another nRF24LE1 device. See this forum post for how to connect the devices.
